thehauntingsoul
Heyo, so I have been using these SHITTY ass Yahoo! speakers for the past couple of months. There is no sub so if I want to listen to music loudly I need to turn down the bass all the way, and it pisses me off. Not only that but these speakers are shitty, and the connection to the second one needs to be positioned just so for it to work at all. I need some good speakers. I'm looking to spend like anywhere between $75-150. I need: -Decent enough for music synth, I use reason but I don't necessarily need top quality -Decent subwoofer that does not necessarily need to be plugged in for spkrs to work -Smallest speakers as possible This is so I can fit the speakers in my bag to bring to a friends places without lugging the sub along. I am just too lazy to browse, plus I figured there would be some audiophiles on here who know their shit. thx all. Guest A/D
most consumer systems use the sub as the interface for the speakers, and won't let you separate it from the satellites. i don't know of any that don't Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43017-good-speakers/#findComment-979992 Share on other sites
BCM
you'll have a hard time finding any portable speakers (that you could take to your friends house etc) that are decent quality for the money you want to spend. also, don't worry too much about a subwoofer - that's all kids fucking go on about these days, bloody subwoofers. they're often unnecessary. get yourself a decent pair of monitors and you'll have all the bass you need. anyway, my recommendations may require you to spend a bit more than you would like so you'll have to get saving! Genelec 6010A active speakers (they also do a subwoofer if you must have one - the Genelec 5040A). here they are: but they are expensive at £335ish. you could also opt for some Fostex PM0.4's available for about £140ish or how about some Edirol Micro Monitors? The MA-7A's are not bad and cheap... around £89 or some Alesis M1 Active 320s (with built in USB soundcard!) also cheap and around £89 just don't get Behringer. I will be the first to tell people about how crap Behringer is, but have you heard the Truth monitors? They are incredible for the price, and I haven't heard anything better that runs under $700. The Truth 2031As can be had for $340ish, and I think Behringer has a subwoofer for them. Like you said though, a subwoofer isn't necessary for most nice monitor setups. When you get a chance, check them out. I couldn't believe it when I found a Behringer product that wasn't noisey and built like shit. I stand behind mine 100%. And to the OP, I know that these are beyond the amount you wanted to spend, but if you check www.musiciansfriend.com they have some factory refub ones that run about $260. Proper monitoring is something is an essential part of the production process, so maybe consider saving up a bit more before you invest in your studio speakers. Your music will thank you.
