Just got a Yamaha TX81Z

I bought it based on a recommendation from Analogue Wings in an old thread, I don't know all I've managed to do is dick around with the presets and program it's welcome message.

Is there any way to find patches for sega genesis sounds? Childhood dream is all.

if you google there's a zip file out there with a tonne of patches from yamaha themselves

Congrats. You just got a hell of a beast.

I once met a guy who programmed it from the front panel, but that's insane. Get a good Atari ST or PC editor and you're good to go. I repeat, that's a hell of a beast.

Man these things are more than programmable from the front panel. Nice simple FM architecture plus good sound! Wicked bass machine I reckon.

My advice is don't push the power button too hard. I killed mine that way.

The actual switch is at the back of the circuit board but is pushed via a long bit of metal that comes from the power button on the front. I managed to crack the circuit board being a bufoon!

man these look dope. so cheap. I'm discovering that there are tons of great synths out there for cheeeep.

haha yeah I saw this yesterday while installing a v1.6 eprom chip.
