As stated before, Melve is not average; it's the bottom end of the Ae spectrum. It's down there with steels and most of Incunabula.

I also think tapr is below average.

An average ae track would be something like.... all of tri repetae.

I never said I hated it, just that it's average. I like tri repetae; it just happens to be the absolute middle of the road when it comes to autechre's music.

i would not call it "average" but i'm not a fan of Draft 7.30. I'd rather listen to LP5, confiled, untilted, amber or quaristice any time. but some average tracks really fits in an album : i mean you cant have a record made up with only climax tracks or anthems. You also need some track to breathe, quiet tunes before the storm.

Too true. Tri Repetae is average central, bordering on mundance city. Why oh why this so often is cited as their best truly does baffle me...
