Perhaps that is why they fired him. It would annoy me, thats for sure. If you go all the way with the beard only to hack off the moustache to make your face a round irresistably punchable target then you deserve to be fired.

one of my closest friends is a cop, really good guy

Every time I've been stopped by the cops for being drunk in public, they've always been cool about it. They just tell me to go away.

There are a lot of power tripping assholes out there though.
