i posted this because i wasn't sure what type of plugins were being searched for

you can control search parameters of an entire database of plugins from the link

including OS

Free, Commercial

you have to click a few buttons but i think you will discover it is worth your time

I randomly took a look at the tweakbench page and saw a link to this:

 

VMachine

 

It's an app for OSX that lets you run VST's through it into your DAW. I haven't given it a full rundown, but it sounds like it works.
