I only have "Music for Airports" and ambient is my favorite musical genre, what should I check out?

I highly recommend On Land, Evening Star, and The Pearl.

how can you forget The Plateaux Of Mirror

Not forget.

Just not "highly recommend".

It's good, but not as good as The Pearl.

yeah me too. The Pearl is a bloody good album. Even his installations CDs are great (Lightness, Forest Proposal, etc..). on Eno producing U2 & Coldplay, see the low sales of the installations cds.

check out anything by Cluster, the band that had a heavy influence on Brian Eno's 'invention' of ambient

yes, MLITBOG is fucking fantastic. As is Another Green World. AGW is so utterly perfect and fripp's solo on St. Elmo's Fire kills me every time. How has no one mentioned Discreet Music yet? It was his first conscious effort at ambient. About four years before Music For Airports, and it's just as good.

Still haven't bought his latest release, the new collab with Byrne.

Anyone care to tell me what it's like?

its got a couple of good tracks but it nowhere compared to their previous my life in a bush of ghosts. Its still decent though. Strange Overtones and Life is Long are my fav from the new album

I would recommend a listen though

anything by eno is gold, cept his production work with coldplay(i dont even think hes to blame for that)

every album has its own charm, everything from Here Come the Warm Jets to Discreet Music to The Drop.

you cant really lose out and not appreciate, as a music aficionado what hes done for the modern musical artform.
