I really loved the Foxy Bingo ads:

They were great. Then it was Think Bingo which really didn't last for long and understandably: they were crap. Dumpy old bird in a swimming cap and one-piece looking very uncomfortable:

Interestingly but perhaps unsurprisingly, all of these websites are operated by the same company.

I might add that the Cheeky Bingo bumpers and ads are by far the worst. The bumpers are actually a lot worse than the full ads. I can't find any on youtube, but it's just that annoying fucking ball saying "Oooh, cheeky cheeky. Cheeky cheeky cheeky!" and absolutely nothing else, it's disgusting.

Does anyone else want to discuss TV ads that they like or don't like? I find them really interesting.

I guess this is as good a place to any to rant about how much I hate Cadbury's marketers, and before anyone points it out yes I'm aware of the irony of making a message board post deriding their "viral" ads but they really do upset me.

The Gorilla ad was all idiots spoke about for ages, everywhere you went someone would ask you about it, or tell you about it, or you'd overhear them talking about it. Fair play to them, it really worked - it was brilliantly calculated, right down to the voguey 80's-trend-hopping music selection. It worked perfectly but it was immensely irritating.

What really wound me up was the campaign to bring the Wispa back. It started with a Facebook group to "BRING BACK THE WISPA", and Cadbury's "listened" to their customers and announced the Wispa would be back. Of course, the Facebook group was actually started by their advertising agency. That's not grass roots, that's fucking astroturf. What made it worse was the bus/billboard ads they started putting up after the announcement was made. They all said things like "Oh, John says they're bringing the Wispa back", a little nod to its supposed grassroots/viral background I suppose. It just felt cynical, like they were saying "Haha, look, we made you think what we wanted you to think." Of course that's what advertising is about but actually saying it just seemed to show complete disdain for the customer.

As for the eyebrows ad, it's the Gorilla all over again but I don't think it's been as succesful "IRL". People are really net-savvy and they soon get wise to being played like this. It doesn't help that the ad is really, really annoying too.
