Firefly

So, following in my tradition of missing out on awesome TV series until after their cancellation, I recently decided to give Firefly a shot after seeing it on Hulu.

Well holy shit if this isn't some of the best damn sci-fi ever. I can now see why the internets have been raving about it for the better part of the decade.

The writing is especially superb, with a poignancy to the character-driven drama that many a flat out modern suburban-family-themed-drama would stumble over ham-handedly, and several ideas they probably flat out wouldn't tackle. Episodes like Jaynestown and The Message are especially good in this regard...the former being my personal favorite.

The movie was pretty good too. It felt like it was a lot crammed into a short time, though. It could easily have been half a season of more fleshed out plot.

I doubt it will come back, but damn, that one season that is available is stellar.

Also, the cast is full of hotties.

yeah, thought this was a nice show. too bad it was cut short like all good shows it seems.

i saw the serenity film last week... never heard of it (or firefly before)... i quite enjoyed it
