roygbiv

was checking the warp20 current ratings and surely enough roygbiv was the top boc tune. dont get me wrong, i like the song, and i understand that everyone has their favourites, but HOW is roygbiv fucken everyones number 1 boc song :F

probably a combination of

a) being the most accessible (?)

b) short and catchy

c) crap description but, it's very "boc". drifty synths, mid-tempo beat, childish theme.

i dunno.

if it wasn't the top track, its likely it would've been WARPs pick too.

what would you have put?

Kid for Today sounds like an alright choice to me.

what would i pick? thats the thing. nothing really stands out. which is fine, im just wondering why everyone else sees roygbiv as a standout.

if i had to pick for a standout tho, i reckon Turqoise Hexagon Sun. clean, safe, nice. Everything you do is a balloon is also a strong one i reckon but wrong label.

I thought it would have been dayvan cowboy (great track but a bit pop compared to their other stuff)

roygbiv is pretty but demands it. telephasic workshop was a spook conceptual breakthrough, and has my vote. its hard to bust up that record though, the mix raises the mystery mojo of all.

Look at it now it most certainly wont be at the top, it changes like every second

oh, no shit! i just remember the track getting heaps of praise over here, and when i saw it as the number 1 boc tune over at warp20 it really spun me out :P

wait no! roygbiv still is the number one! with 12% of artist votes followed by Beautiful Place' coming second with 7%.

I'd probably go for something off "In a beautiful place in the country", but a group like BoC don't really lend themselves to favourite songs.

i think ROYGBIV is a great choice.

click on the link that says "current chart'' NOT "recent votes". you see...recent votes change. quite often infact.

the "current chart" has had windowlicker at no.1 for about a week and a half and roygbiv at no.2. :|

given the intentions and flows of the albums as wholes its pretty ridiculous to expect a single good song to surpass any others imo... although having said that i do love roygbiv

i voted for 3 or so songs (picking one was impossible). julie and candy was one of them no doubt.

i voted for Beach at Redpoint and Happy Cycling.

It's too difficult to pick out one single track but it's definitely not Roygbiv.

If it were up to me, compared to the likes of 1969, An Eagle In Your Mind, Aquarius and Happy Cycling, it really wouldn't have a chance.

But, such is the way of subjectivity & taste.

I don't like how the sample in 1969 sounds like it's saying 'cheesy'
