Guest Mr Salads
I know there are two other threads about this movie but I wanted to try and narrow the discussion if we can, to talk about nicolas cage and specifically, look at his filmography in an effort to understand just why any of his films never went straight to DVD. beneboi
i'm still not sure how i feel about nicolas cage after watching him in movies for two decades on one hand you have adaptation, but his performance could probably all be chalked up to the writing/direction, but i dont know. on the other hand you have abysmal pieces of shit like knowing and next and the national treasure movies and god knows what else. looking at the next few movies hes gonna be in makes me hate him even more though # The Dance (2010) (announced) .... Billy 'The Kid' Roth # The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) (filming) .... Balthazar Blake # Season of the Witch (2010) (filming) .... Lavey # Astro Boy (2009) (post-production) (voice) .... Damon Macready His entire career makes absolutely no fucking sense to me, whatsoever. I dont get why he is in so many action movies. Hes not an action hero guy. He jumps once in awhile, but other than that its just his flat performance, receding hairline and him holding a map of some sort. Why do people find him so engaging to watch? The only possibility I can think of is that there is some charm hidden underneath that exterior. Or maybe its just that theres an electricity or current with that guy. Theres a sense of excitement when hes on screen? I dont know. lets look at his films: Bangkok Dangerous (2008) - should have been straight to dvd National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) - didnt see this, but everybody else did apparently Next (2007) - wtf was this garbage, the director is a cross dresser anyway Grindhouse (2007) - semi funny but not that funny Ghost Rider (2007) - he probably didnt have to do anything besides sit on a bike. the CGI took care of the rest The Wicker Man - jesus christ World Trade Center (2006) - oh my god The Ant Bully (2006) - what?? The Weather Man (2005) - lolz Lord of War (2005) - nice accent. jk National Treasure (2004) omg Matchstick Men (2003) crap balls! Adaptation. (2002) - his only good movie, thank spike jonze for that Sonny (2002) huh Windtalkers (2002) piece of shit Christmas Carol: The Movie (2001) whats this Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) based on the title it was sure to make no money The Family Man (2000) yyyyyikes Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) hoooly crap Bringing Out the Dead (1999) scorsese's worst movie 8MM (1999) the sequel to se7en Snake Eyes (1998) he replaced steven seagal at the last minute City of Angels (1998) wow Face/Off (1997) omg Con Air (1997) con movie The Rock (1996) middle schoolers like this Leaving Las Vegas (1995) i just won an oscar! time to go be in action movies Kiss of Death (1995/I) doesnt kill his career Trapped in Paradise (1994) trapped at the cinemas It Could Happen to You (1994) no one rmembers this Guarding Tess (1994) or this Deadfall (1993) or this Amos & Andrew (1993) this was good i think? no idea Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) the prequel to leaving las vegas Red Rock West (1992) no idea Zandalee (1991) no idea Wild at Heart (1990) ok, his first good movie Fire Birds (1990) ?? Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Brokenhearted (1990) (TV) ?? Tempo di uccidere (1989) - italian financing Vampire's Kiss (1988) ....of death Never on Tuesday (1988) always on wednseday Moonstruck (1987) romantic comedy?? Raising Arizona (1987) coens! I only see two movies on here that were good, and had more to do with the filmmakers than the actor. FLA FUR BIS FLE
Raising Arizona - yes. great movie. his hair in this is amazing. Wild At Heart - fuck yes, but more for Willem Dafoe and Crispin Glover than anybody else Bringing out the Dead - I remember enjoying it, but haven't seen it in ages. The Wicker Man - he deserves something for this. I don't know what, but something. lumpenprol
I saw this movie today, based on Atop's recommendation. It was bad. However, if condensed into a 30 minute twilight zone episode, with a different actor and director, it could have been great. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide lumpenprol's signature Hide all signatures After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside. - lost cloud I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work! Atop
no, it isn't.... It is Alex Proyas being a creepy Russian and making a film expressing this quality.... Fuck M Night's hack ass.... and even if Cage is a shitty actor, there are parts to the story that make the film worth watching, either for the disaster sequences or the fantasy.... If any of you have read 'Childhood's End', and enjoyed it, then this film will strike a nerve... fuck the newer Wicker Man film! the original is so '70's, Pagan and British....right up my alley...
