I have never encountered an egg fetus as most people have. I think the day I do will be the last time I eat eggs.

The duck eggs in Chinatown have little duck fetuses. I've never eaten one, I always either give them away or throw them out.

The point of an egg is pure fatty proteinaceous fuel. If you let the fetus develop and begin to use that energy to develop undigestible structures such as claws, bones, and feathers, what the hell good does it do you? The Chinese are just in it for the shock value--it's the only explanation for their culinary habits.

i was presuming they mashed them up and made the mash into tea to aid their gall bladders or something

I thought that most commercial egg-laying hens have never been anywhere near a rooster, and any weird blobs you find in your eggs are pieces of chicken uterine lining!

correct. You should not be finding foetuses in any commerical eggs you eat. Chickens produce eggs even if they haven't been fertilized. So the normal eggs you eat are like life support pods without any life inside.
