I just dled the program (my name is Augmatic Disport (very idm)) so what do i do now? I think I have it so i can upload some stuff but i don't know for sure.

The same as napster/kazaa/winmx/dc++ and all those others, but actually good. =P

Go into the menu and set to share your mp3 directory/directories.

Then restart the program so it indexes all your mp3s.

Then add "Autopilot" to your user list.

Might as well make this an SLSK username thread.

Although I hardly use it anymore, there's much better, faster methods of piracy now.

never had to mess with torrents since anything I've ever been looking for I've found on slsk

you are a few years behind - soulseek isn't THAT efficient compared to the new torrent places.

but hell - whateva floats ya boat.

its a good way to get individual files

also a lot of spy ware and virus' come from soul seek

this post is false. none of this has rung true with me and i've bee using the damn thing since near it's inception. no spyware/virus software, and individual files can get downloaded if you want to. but it's more effiecient to get entire albums.

like i said, i've been using slsk since late 2002, early 2003 and never once have i gotten any kind of malware or anything. perhaps you should secure your computer? i dont know. most virus free application i've come across. just remember it's not a torrent client.

i guess what i meant was cheack any computer i've slsk'ed on since 2002 and you'd be proved wrong? i don't know. it seems slsk ain't the prob.

QFT I have never received a virus from slsk. I mean the two things that make soulseek better than other clients are 1. selection of music 2. virus free.

EDIT: I always scan files just in case, don't you scan your dls weed?

Before I switched to OS X, I was an avid Soulseek user. Even when I began using OiNK years and years ago, I'd still have Soulseek running for either the insightful chat (honestly, I learned a lot about music from there) or just the sheer magnitude of releases that would never even make it onto a tracker.

And not once did I get any malicious software. Not even a dodgy MP3.

I don't know whether you were just unlucky or if you're that much of a dumbfuck that you downloaded stuff you weren't supposed to (searching for porn, eh?) but everything I got was MP3 ripped either by the people I knew or from people I knew that had files that were safe.

Scaremonger no moar.

maybe deadmaus mp3s are just even more shit than i though.
