I've been working with this MC lately, and I'm getting more into some off-beat hiphop tracks a la Flying Lotus/Harmonic 313, etc.

Love the bass. How do you get your claps that smooth and wide?

The tubular bell thing didn't really make sense for me. Also the first time I listened, the beginning beat was abit too off beat to 'get'. It had just enough structure in the 2 minute part. I think the bass octave runs are perfectly timed as well. The string like pads are great, could've had them all over and I wouldn't complain.

Hope you put some lyrics on this shit!

Also, I really dig your beardstep track. I listened to it like everyday on my MP3 when I first heard it. (only good track on the beardstep album imho.. :shh:)

So a lot of this could be due to my laptop speakers, but the hi-hat was almost ear piercing and there where some other pitch sounds that came in near haflway point that where awful sounding too. The bass line and such was alright, but like beneboi said it's a little straight out. If you hadn't said anything I could still say "this seems like it wants to be part of the off beat hip-hop scene" which part of a lot of the good stuff in that genre is so good because it flows so naturally and not forced. A lot of the stringy type synth tone around half way tat came in was also very cheesy and not so great. Still pretty good though, probably better than how good I could do an off-beat track right now, but could use some polishing.

I updated it up top since the beginning hihat thing was annoying to most people.

Glass Plate: I think it's probably your speakers because the hihat you're talking about has a 7dB cut at 12kHz and up.
