Who wants to get together a game of Civilization 4? Either every man for himself, or maybe even team-based versus mode if we get a nice even number of players?

I think Civ 4 multiplayer can have up to 6 people. Maybe 8? Holler if you're interested

Had a friend who was mad about this game. Does it require a serial for online play?

I don't think it does. But I'm running the version you buy from Steam, so the licensing would definitely not work the same as with retail. Probably does use a serial for the retail version

Ah. Me and a friend occasionally play this cooperatively on Warlord difficulty. It's insanely fun but you really need an entire day dedicated to it (or two)

Never played Civ 4, big fan of Civs 2+3 though. My housemate actually gave me a CDR with Civ4 on it really recently, but I've left it at home.

There are still some things I like better from Civilization II than Civ IV (Civ III was a mess until the subsequent expansions/patches), most notably trading and being able to build as many cities as you want without the 10% per city treasury taxation. However, the add-on "Beyond the Sword" adds in tons of new spy options that let you just absolutely cripple players if you choose to focus on that. There are also Corporations added but I never found too much use with them since you get tons of gold from building scores of towns alone.

I used to love Civ and played 3 for years. They're probably my favourite games in actuality.

I guess I should try 4 now. Although I think I'd been put off by some screenshots as it looked more cartoony than before. But I think I might be wrong because it's Civ on the Wii that looks like shit.
