Role Models

Is this out on DVD? I kinda wanted to see it.

I didn't think Tropic Thunder was that funny, though. There was like 15 minutes of combined "omg hilarious" and the rest was blank stare "meh".

I actually thought this was considerably funnier than the entire movie:

I just watched Tropic Thunder and thought it had an interesting storyline and was fairly consistently funny throughout the movie

Yeh, I definitely wanted to keep watching it to see where it was going, but it probably won't be something I'll return to a dozen times like Zoolander (Stiller's best, imo).

I'll have to see zoolander now, as I agree that Tropic Thunder (what I saw of it, switched it off around 2/3 of the way through) was pretty bland.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

yeah, tropic thunder definitely wasn't anything great to me, a few reasonably funny moments and steve coogan was good. i actually found watching the making-of mock-documentary thing hungover one afternoon was funnier than watching the real film stoned. not a good sign.

also the older i get the more i just find ben stiller really fucking annoying. so uh yeah, might give this one a miss

i hate stiller. and adam sandler. both are kind of the same league of assholes.

and by assholes you mean jews.

stiller will always get a pass from me for being in "Flirting with Disaster", though I agree he's pretty much the definition of "not funny" now. I suffered through part of Night at the Museum on an in-flight movie...

they are jews? i don't mind jews. much.

actually it's their weird persona. don't know, something about their presence and expression that makes me nervous. they're like those pretentious wannabe-charismatic characters, who want to be sincere and funny and dumb and likewise... that just annoys me when i see them on screen. probably just my own caprice that renders all their movies unwatchable.

not a movie i would recommend, just a comedy that was okay to pass the time. i really like the red haired guy, although he probably just plays the same character in everything he's in. his roles are always small so he hasn't worn on me yet. i remember him from that news team show with zach galifikaifkaifkaalokjnuss and that guy from upright citizens brigrade, on comedy central

imdb says A.D. Miles is his name

Also, I think it's a bit unneccessary to imply there's something inherently wrong with "Hollywood" comedies. Some of the funniest films I've seen are huge mainstream hits. Stuff like Zoolander, Old School, or Anchorman will have the lot of us in tears after a few beers, while indie comedies like Wes Anderson or Coen Brothers films, while exceptionally good films, are more a subtle, contemplative funny, not laugh-out-loud Lizzing funny. The former is usually something we prefer when we pop a comedy into the DVD player.

agreed. dodgeball is a classic example... even starksy and hutch had its moments. i know a shitload of film snobs who wouldnt give it the time of day (one guy i knew refused to watch any film not french and black-and-white, wtf?) but there's no point being snobbish; if something makes you laugh its all good, right?
