ant inspired hexapod robot

Recommended Posts

i thought this was 3d rendered at first, the amount of felxability/movement is phenomenal

but is it more IDM than antarctica? i bet once they evolve consiousness, ant robots are will be pretty angry they were made as ants instead of something more evolved. i guess even robots have to start low on the foodchain. i'm convinced this is going to be the future of war combat. just attach a ton of guns and then send 100's of them in a swarm. the terrorists wouldn't know wtf. i'd enjoy a pet robot ant i'd name him squibbles

Need to set that video to Second Bad Vilbel and send that fucker to Mars.

Wait, I skipped around in the video - does the damn thing actually walk?

I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.

A-Pod is an ant inspired hexapod robot with a 2 DOF abdomen (tail), a 3 DOF head with large mandibles. 6 legs with 3 DOF each. Total 25 servos. This video demonstrates body movement and mandible control. I still have to do some mechanical improvements to the legs (therefore little walking). The robot are remotely controlled with a custom 2,4 GHz RC transmitter.

Sound track: Artist: Trifonic with Lies (Instrumental).

it seems like there will be more videos. we need to clue him in to good music for the next video. our insectoid robotic friends deserve better.
