always excited to hear new (well, old loops) material by basinski. just received my copy today. listening now and it's extremely good so far.

honestly this guy bores the shit out of me. and i like drone, or whatever it's called.

i retract that statement. this sounds kind of lush from those samples on his myspace. might have to reconsider.

might give this a try. shortwavemusic is one of my favorite drone albums.

he has done all that shit thoughout pretty big amount of time, like twenty years or more, without any publicity. it was Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) who found him and his music by accident. it's a beautiful story let's hear them old loops

melancholia brings me to tears every time.

i've listened to the album like 3-4 times since last night already haha. wonderful release in my opinion. the 2nd track especially. blends the loop with field recordings perfectly.

i think he's releasing these pieces from his archives b/c it's the first time he's been able to do so. there are a number of newer pieces, however, such as 'water music' 1 & 2, as well as 'silent night.'

this release is really good, that last loop is so gorgeous. basinski is amazing.

i don't know, i guess he does everything by himself if you order from his site? and he needs te money?

anyway, i bought them there because i couldn't get them anywhere else at the time

and if you bought the 4 disintegration loops, you'd get a 10$ discount

$20 for a CD and first class shipping directly from the artist is not, imho, expensive. he makes the music (of course), does the art and has the CDs manufactured all at his expense. Dude needs to make a living. I think it's totally worth it and would love to have more opportunities to hand a 20 dollar bill right into the hands of a composer for a nice copy of his/her work.
