PS3 green screen

My PS3 which ive played for about ten hours total so far seems to be broken, hopefully its something else, im posting in hopes that someone may have experienced this before and be able to offer advice.

When I turn on the system all i see on the screen is green noise reminiscent of a broken atari or something.

The system worked with the same exact setup since i've gotten it, and worked up until today when i restarted it.

Here is a list of actions which led to and after the green screen problem occurred:

Turned on system

Logged into store

Downloaded a game demo

Downloaded another game demo

installed first demo

played first demo

deleted first demo

checked on status of second download

launched a different game demo

screen turned green and noisy but sound was normal

turned off power on back

restarted and screen still green

unplugged cables and plugged them back in, still green

tried new hdmi cable, still green

looked up 'green screen ps3' and apparently theres another much more common green screen issue which is different than the one I am experiencing which caused search results to be all for the other issue.

anyone experienced this green screen or have any suggestions?

i would try a factory reset if there's some way of doing that

I think there are some default resets, ive seen a few videos on youtube about it, none for the specific issue im having but I will attempt that.

Turn off the power.

Now turn back on the power, but HOLD the soft power button (the one on the front by the disc tray, not the switch).

Keep holding it while the whole thing boots up. Don't let go until the boot up process finishes.

What this does is boots up the system but resets the audio and video settings to their default.

If that doesn't solve your problem then your firmware's fucked and you gotta send it back to Sony.

Yeah, no shit. thanks buddy. I thought id consult the infinite wisdom here first considering a lot of people here seem to have a ps3

Yeah... two xboxes later I decided to get a ps3. The xboxes lasted longer.

only a few games work on my ps2. gran turismo a-spec, tekken tag tournament and klonoa 2

Did this twice, the second time it worked. Tried it yesterday as well but for some reason nothing happened then. Hopefully this isn't a temporary fix but either way its good news as my computer now seems to be fucked :omg: , gives me a reason to file for my tax return anyhow.

Yeah this generation sucks ass in a plethora of ways the other ones didn't.

I'm waiting for the black square "Steam Box" which just has some USB controller ports, built in wifi, an ethernet jack, and 1tb hard drive, and just connects to your steam account.

Man that would rock.
