Is Anyone Still Using IE6

Recommended Posts

I took a look at my Google Analytics for the forum, and while it does show that some people still do use IE6 (28% of the people using a browser that identifies itself as IE are using IE6, although IE only accounts for 14% of the browsers that do visit the Forum). I'm taking this into account with the use of transparent PNGs on the site, as I don't want to code for IE6's lack of support of the feature.

More to the point, if you are using IE6, why? Haven't upgraded, or are you on a work PC that IT hasn't upgraded or won't upgrade (believe it or not, the official browser for the Firm I work for is IE6 - you can say IT is a bit behind with trying to support legacy applications)

I always use this easy PNG fix http://www.twinhelix.com/css/iepngfix/ (the new beta works without a problem.)

Yeah, that's the kind of stuff I want to try and avoid - even using conditional comments to filter out IE6 users, it's still more code to maintain and possibly fail, so hence my asking.

Yep, that's the only time I ever use IE6 for WATMM shits and giggles. I wish they'd upgrade (or switch to firefox or summit)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Believable. One of the firms I work for uses it as standard. Usually the bigger companies with a really complex international infrastructure, huge network kinda thing stick with what they know for ages so they can test the newer browsers to check if they don't clash with the other software on the network whatsoever. So this company still haven't made the move yet. It's not far off though I don't think.
