it sounds all cryptic but this is meant to be as basic as possible:

there's nothing anyone can do - all that can happen, is the person falls away and all there is left is everything. Which will happen at death anyway.

A person can't become enlightened because enlightenment is the realisation that there isn't anyone. So there's nothing ET can do to become enlightened because that would be reinforcing the illusion that there is someone there who can do something to become enlightened.

So when you say the mind can't let go. That's spot on, that's what it's supposed to do. It's a total liar basically and is creating this illusion.
