1989 - Musical Memories

dating myself here, but 89 really was the year my head opened up to new bands who weren't on MTV (at least not before midnight) and started me on the path to developing my tastes. between Summer and Fall of 89 my idea of what music could be, as well as my views on life in general changed completely. where were you at muscially?

i think in 1989 square dance rap by sir mix a lot was my favorite song of all time

 

 

possibly a tie between that and Weird Al 'dare to be stupid'

i was 5, and it was a year before i started playing guitar, so it was probably just whatever my parents used to listen to. the shadows, dire straits, etc from my dad, and random pop music playing in my mum's car, back when commercial radio was actually pretty good for variety. oh and i used to watch music clip shows a lot on tv. the only memories of that are sinead o'connor and mc hammer though.

 

i didn't get into 'alternative' music until 1996.
