Guest Iain C
I was walking through Blackheath the other day and decided to buy a new Zippo, cause I lost my old one over a year ago. I decided to go for the metallic, modern "Black Ice" shade, which is kind of a shimmering graphite colour, and it's really nice. My last one was brass, very traditional, with my initials engraved in it. I bought a matching one for my brother for Christmas. but whilst Zippos certainly deserve appreciation for being a classic of American engineering and design, this thread is actually about setting things on fire. I've been having such fun with my lighter fluid. You can lay out a little path for it on your desk, light one end, and watch it WHOOSH around! Propa naptha-based lighter fluid burns very cleanly, so there's no nasty smoke or funny smell, and you can even coat your desk in it and let it burn away without causing any visible damage! But this is SMALL POTATOS compared to the fun you can have by putting your hand in the lighter fluid and setting it on fire. Woah! You've got a flaming hand! Be careful with that flaming hand, it can really hurt if you leave it burning for too long. I recommend that you give your hand a good shake to put the flames out, but try not to send burning drops of naptha flying across the room when you do so. Do you like setting yourself or other things on fire? Have you ever burned down a building or some other valuable property, perhaps when you were a child or drunk? Share your thoughts and experiences here. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/44861-setting-things-on-fire/ Share on other sites

Guest Iain C
I'm just on a burning-my-hands tip lately. We've got no hot water in our house because our leccy and boiler are fucked, so I boiled the kettle to have a shave, and typically plunged my hand straight into it to wash my face. I won't be doing that again. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/44861-setting-things-on-fire/#findComment-1018475 Share on other sites
lala
i set fire to someones hair once. and i remember blowing a fully lit reefer end (what are they called?) though the roach down someones throat by accident when giving them a blowjob at school. Guest aron
i set my desk on fire in my younger days and i lost control of it and almost burned my house down. i stopped playing with fire after that. also, i had a friend who was smoking hot knives in his room with a propane torch and burnt his room down aswell as his neighbors garage Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/44861-setting-things-on-fire/#findComment-1018483 Share on other sites

I hope you mean blowback. And it's a "cherry" btw! It seems that a lot of these fire experiences are cannabis-related. I actually set a girl's hair on fire when I was about 16 and smoking weed in a park. I think I was just playing with my lighter, and a few thin but long strands hanging over her face went up in a whooshy instant. I believe I laughed riotously. She was my friend's girlfriend, they broke up soon after, and I never saw her again. impakt
I used to be a pyromaniac, but I've stopped over the years as I grew older. I used to feel so guilty for it. I burnt down my neighboors cabin once, not on intent though - I was just messing around and things got out of hand. I was 12. I've always been good at making bombs and molotovs and I've had great fun with it, never even sustained any injuries from it. My biggest project involved some 30l of gasoline and a kilo of dynamite, but it kind of failed because the explosion from the dynamite blew out the flames. Guest Iain C
When I was a kid, inspired by television clichés, I tried to use a magnifying glass to melt some toy soldiers. Of course, in Britain the sun is about as strong as Pall Mall orange, so after a frustrating five minutes I went and nicked some matches, struck them on the side of the house, and really let those servicemen have it. I used to feel a strange mix of exhileration and guilt as I smelled the combusting sulphur. I used to worry that my parents might notice the black streaks on the side of the house where I struck the matches. Worse than plug-stand. in a past life i was an engineer in a plastics injection-moulding factory. i regularly got bukakked in 240 degree moulton plastic. worst was a large sudden surge of thick polypropylene (slow drying time in large forms) from a nozzle i was working close to, almost covered the back of my hand... i flicked my hand instantly to try and throw off the burning lump and it didn't budge cos it had already burnt into the skin.. i had to run for a cold tap, and cool the plastic as it formed hard between my fingers and round my hand. when it set i had to chisel it off, along with layers of skin. then i went for my lunch. my hands were like asbestos when i worked there, still are a bit, but i could hold hot things quite happily that would make the average person shriek like a little girl. lala
shit yeah! cherry! lol thats what happens if you smoke reefer at school kids. and ofc i meant blowback. i just wanted to set up an ingenious trap to make you say that sentence, whilst conjuring up a strange image. in hindsight i should have contstructed it so the cherry flew up his japseye and out his mouth. :sucks hard on cherry: Edited April 20, 2009 by lala Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide lala's signature Hide all signatures Beethoven, ages ago, said: To play a wrong note is insignificant. Only in a stoned state would I decide that I could, rather than simply blocking the hole with sellotape or glue, melt the hole back together using my lighter. I still have the scar on my finger from the resulting drips of burning plastic. Damn you, Roxy! Guest mrcopyandpaste
Haha, nice. I found a big length of rope hanging from a tree of about 3 metres, that blue plastic rope you make swings out of. We set that on fire and the thing was pouring melted firey plastc onto the floor at a scary rate, so we ran away. We used to fill balloons with deodorant and blow them up too. Once we made a chain of ten balloons, shit was intense. Guest Yegg
In high school, my girlfriends and I would lit up the tips of tampons in the bathroom, swing them around a bit, and try to release them just at the right time so they landed into a toilet. J3FF3R00
I was a serious pyro when I was a little kid. I once set a trash bin in my Aunt's basement on Thanksgiving. I tried putting it out with water and the whole house filled up with smoke. All of my relatives thought the house was on fire. I made up some bullshit story that some stranger broke in, set the trash bin on fire and escaped through a basement window, stealthily shuttting and locking it behind him. Nobody bought it. I also set a dry bush in front of my mom's old house on fire one summer and the house nearly caught fire. It was on a weekend and I was waiting outside for my dad to pick me up for visitation. He pulled into the driveway just as the bush was full blaze. I also had a friend that used to call me up in the middle of the night and ask "Do you wanna start some fires?". We used to go buy matches and lighter fluid and burn shit around the neighborhood. We would set stuff on fire and tag our gang name in chalk "Pyro Asses". One of our favorite things to burn was the leftover plastic from toy models because it made a trippy, twirly sound. We got burned a few times and yes, that shit hurt like a mf. One time we set a dead tree on fire by a creek in the back of the local middle school. The fire spread to the other trees and quickly got out of control. We took off and the fire department showed up moments later. We rode our bikes by a bit later and they were just finishing putting it out. They had to saw down a bunch of trees that surrounded the creek because of our stupid asses. I'm not too proud of that sort of thing anymore. It was really stupid and dangerous. I had another friend that I used to take the bus to the mall with. While inside the mall, we would spay Binaca breath spray on each other and set eachother's hands on fire. We got kicked out a couple times. That was pretty cool. Tip: If you didn't know already, those packets you can get of non-dairy creamer can make a nice little fireball if you rip it open and pour it about a foot over a lit cigarette lighter.
