hallucinating for no reason?

So I had set my alarm early this morning for a dental appointment, earlier than usual.

Most mornings I've been, well, sleeping until 2:00pm. I'd still have the alarm set to play the classical music station at around 11:00am and I just cuddle up in my blankets and listen to the music and not really get out of bed until later in the afternoon.

But this morning I set my alarm to the loud buzzing sound so I'd not miss an appointment. But I hit the snooze button because I momentarily forgot about the dentist appointment, and I wanted to sleep more. I love sleeping.

15 minutes later it buzzes again and I wake up, and once again smack the snooze button. But before I close my eyes again I fucking see this big blue text in my room that says GET OUT OF BED. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE DENTIST.. I know I wasn't dreaming this, I was awake (albeit very sleepy), but it was almost as if my brain was putting up a fucking text overlay like you'd see on TV or a movie. This freaked me the shit out.

What the fuck? Has this happened to anyone else?

I was allowing some self induced hallucination the other night, I posted about it in the "what are you consuming right now" thread. It can happen, it's very rare, just chemicals mixing in the brain I guess, I don't know but it can happen, I was tripping bollocks.

interestingly, i have had auditory ones, both with predictive qualities. 'plane crash' and 'cancer girl' echoing in my head REALLY LOUD for about 20 seconds after being woken by it.

plane crash happened that day in england.

met and fell in love with a cancerian girl the next day.

2 seperate occasions, true story! very odd sensation.

some nights while i'm trying to sleep i imagine myself, say snowboarding, (this happened one time), and i'm going down the slope and then all of a sudden i hit a rock or a tree and i jump out of my bed. While this is happening i know i'm awake and I am aware of where i am..it's pretty cool when it happens

thats really weird because I do tons of drugs and have never had hallucinations that vivid.

I do get unprovoked hallucinations from time to time but usually its like... something in out of the corner of my eye or a soupy morphing effect on certain textures.

The absolute closest I've ever had to that was one night I was totally decked out on pills and K and i kept seeing random gibberish text when I closed my eyes. I could read it very easily but the text would be something like this:

  Quote
akjgkl Wrtsjlk Teigl jgl;sop ygjepyw SDFG jkglaklpwor

you get the idea.

To see bold static text like that is an odditty for sure. Has this ever happened before?

haha I do this too except lately the reason for twitching won't actually make any sense. :fear:

had a bunch of weird hypnogogic hallucination type deals the other day taking a nap with some noise music... it was awesome. falling asleep with percussive/abrasive music is always really interesting.

your mind tends to recreate what you see a lot, like when I went on a roadtrip I would fall asleep seeing a bunch of highway signs, seeing text probably means you are reading too much internet.

i guess its the newer version of what i got - first they learn how to pinpoint voices inside my head, then they learn how to shine images in MYNAS's eyeballs.

fuck me thats well wizard.

You were probably in a hypnogogic state.

bingo!

and to slightly augment what Michaeljackson said earlier, its the prime time to try to lucid dream. if you feel conscious and are in your 'bed' (more likely a dream bed) and you 'hallucinate' you are like 1 step away from having a very vivid lucid dream

I don't think this has ever happened to me before.

I do sometimes have dreams, regular dreams, that are so vivid that I see text in regular English, which is supposed to be unusual and rare for most people. Like one time I was dreaming I was in a supermarket and everything about it seemed absolutely real -- it didn't have that blurriness/wobblyness/phasing/out-of-the-ordinary/polymorphing stuff that dreams usual have. Even light and shadow was photorealistic, and surfaces had touch sensations and textures to them. The supermarket was some kind of market in Thailand full of mostly fish, octopus, squid, jellyfish, etc and while every sign and label had that weird Thai chicken-scratch on it (or something that looked a lot like it) it had English translations below everything which were extremely clear. This dream was so realistic I could probably whip up blueprints of the layout of the grocery store itself, though the majority of the store was one giant "weird seafood" section, with nowhere to buy things like toothpaste, paper towels, etc. I mean i could even see rust on the forklifts that were occasionally buzzing about carrying these tanks full of octopus.

The people didn't have faces, though... that was the weird part. I tried not to look at any of the people and since I didn't want to look at these faceless beings I didn't buy anything because it would've meant going to the cash register.
