Pete Rock

Shit the Main ingredient is my fav Rap Album ever! It's so seductive, so many fuckin layers of samples and beats. This album was like the J Dilla blueprint! Everything dilla did Rock did in this album, except way jazzier and with far more skill in my opinion. You can tell his pure music knowledge is unreal just by judging where all those samples came from! Anyways IMHO he's the best producer of all time. youtube took a fuckin shit ton of Pete rock and CL smooth tracks off, but this one is hot and a pure pete showcase. Lots of CL(most under-rated rapper of all time?) and Pete rock this summer.

What Pete Rock & CL Smooth joints will you be blasting this summer. Straighten it out and All the places for sure.

And why is it when every other producer talks and makes comments like "woooo" "yea" "uh huh" "right" under the tracks it annoying as fuck. But when Pete does it, it's great? It's like he puts reverb on every woo and yeah and melds them into the background. it's crazy.

agreed! amazing release. 1000+ listens. the first rap record I heard with musical interstituals. fantastic jazz sampling etc.. the whole thing is too easy and effortless.

Yea I agree. His instrumental releases like Petestrumentals and the surviving ingredient are his best work since. All his tracks with rapping have been very lackluster in my opinion, except for... BIG SURPRISE! the ones with CL Smooth.
