Guest spraaaa
i am ditching things and simplifying my setup right now, i decided i don't want a keyboard of any kind and got a padkontrol yesterday... it's really easy to use, maybe just from using korg stuff before, but you can reprogram the pads or change presets really quickly, so you could easily have a few for playing synths, a few for launching scenes & muting in ableton, etc. also came with reason adapted which might make for a nice break from bidule. i also have a evolution x-session which covers my knob needs, but if i didn't have that i would've got the mpd24 (especially since it's cheaper and has the mpc 16 levels bznzz) Edited April 28, 2009 by spraaaa Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/45124-midi-controller-of-choice/#findComment-1025843 Share on other sites

Braintree
I'd like to get NI Maschine at some point. A friend of mine has it and is quite useful. Although I would be paying for the software I probably wouldn't use, so the padKontrol would do me just fine. Siegecow
ive got a padkontrol and really want an apc40 padkontrol is pretty good, but ive found its not very well supported in reason and ableton. maybe im just not keen enough on its workings but it seems like it has only so many uses. But if all you need is a couple knobs an xy pad and a 4x4 grid of nice buttons it's way solid. YEK
i think the mpc one with just the pads but the model up which include sliders would be really great... or an apc40 but that'stoo much of an investment... i've seen guys on youtube use pads as one would use a keyboard and it's just as good, if not better because they're of course smaller Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/45124-midi-controller-of-choice/#findComment-1026781 Share on other sites
Guest Tamas
The Evolution U-Control is what I have, and is definitely worth the investment. It seems to be built rather solidly, and I haven't ever encountered any problems with it. Here is a picture of it: Evolution U-Control Edit: I just realized you said you wanted something with pads, but I still stand by my suggestion. You can get a really cheap MIDI keyboard for that (the u-control has MIDI in) and then you'll have even more "pads" to choose from. kcinsu
i have the padkontrol and the akai mpd32 the padkontrols pads respond better, but the akai has way more in terms of being a MIDI controller. currently not using the padkontrol would love an APC40... will get one when I have money! also, $400 is a pretty fair price for the APC40 I think... the complete integration that is has makes it much more than just a "MIDI controller". I'm actually considering selling my Remote Zero to go towards an APC40. I foresee myself using nothing but Live once the Max addition comes out and it would be nice to have such a dedicated controller with such a nice interface. It really is a pain remapping my current controller for 30 minutes every time I want to use it with a new synth.
