The Horrors - Primary Colours

this lot gets a ton of hate here, but before you dump on this thread, they have completely changed their sound. i like it.

I think all the hatred towards them stems from their rediculous band image. Another case of style over substance.

okay well the silver apples influence only really shows on the verses

so every other derivative indie rock band right now then

I listened to this twice today after seeing a lot of positive reviews and suprisingly I really enjoy it

i would say joy division/echo & the bunnymen/psychedelic furs pretty much covers it, with artwork inspired by the cure.

Definitely digging some of this.

is it just me or does the "Sea with a Sea" track, specially the second half of the track sounds very similar to Portishead's The Rip ?

On Three Decades I'm hearing some of those sounds from the gucci ad. Am i crazy for thinking that? I know cunningham produced the record so..

hmm turns out Geoff Barrow from Portishead also produced this record too

it's funny how some people on here are comparing them to a mix of three or four other bands, why is that a bad thing? isn't that how music should progress? i don't think it's possible to be completely innovative and original anymore without sounding like absolute rubbish.

well there is a difference between having influences and sounding exactly like them

honestly.. I really like "sea within a sea" track but it seems like the first half is pretty much Neu!'s Hallogallo and second half is Portishead's The Rip.

this album is awesome!

I was at my local Chapters ( equivalent to Barnes & Nobels for you Americans) and I was just browsing through some music magazines when these two girls (prolly around 16-17) came by and stood next to me all giggling and shit because The Horrors were on cover of this month's NME magazine and they couldn't wait to get their hands on the magazine. I was so tempted to blurt out something along the lines of " their new album sucks" but something tells me they dont really care for the music but more about how good looking the band is.

P.S - I think the new album is pretty decent.

have been listening to this for a while and I think this album would go be a strong contender for Top 10 albums of 2009.
