yeah the blippy bloopy kind of direction is awesome

so nice to hear the lips not being smothered under a gauzy blanket of dave fridmann production, too. they're great fun live.

i love the flips and sparklehorse, and like mercury rev too, but between 2000 and 2003 all three of these bands released records that sounded very, very similar cos of mr fridmann.

Agree about Fridmann. I listened to Transmissions a few weeks ago and remembered how badly I missed that huge filthy sound. The guitars in the second half of this cover are closer to that.

Its pretty cool, definitely better at the beginning. Early madonna is produced so fantastically I wouldnt recommend tampering with it

Aye, it was a criminally underrated thread. No matter. I think me and Kaini (Or was it you, Rubin?) were the only people who posted in it anyways. It's good to see this track get the attention it deserves. I must have listened to this 20 times since I downloaded it.

I love the weight the chords in the chorus get from being played only once at the climax. That's a damn good arranging trick, If I do say so. The Lips sure know how to make something sound incredibly emotional in a larger-than-life kind of way.

It's the kind of shit i would listen to if i was 105 years old with senile dementia. It's the kind of shit i would play to my great great great great gran in her coffin. The Flaming Lips are well known for being gimmicky old bastards but i never thought even they would stoop this low. Truly, that track/video is totally embarrassing and how anyone who posts in these subforums can say that track is anything other than a total cringefest is beyond me.

Fuck man, i have lost all respect for music in general after witnessing that monstrosity of a video. That was bad. Real fuckin bad.
