every once in a while I consider posting a butthole surfers thread

and then I always change my mind because most watmmers hate on anything that doesn't come out of a Juno or a laptop

but now that it's here, may I just say that the BHS fucking kick your dad's ass, sweet talk your mom in the kitchen, and eat your whole fucking birthday cake before you even get to have a bite

i managed to swag tickets to see them for ludd & mrs ludd ages ago. they got me into them in the 1st place. great band;]

Any version of Hurdy Gurdy Man just creeps me the fuck out due to it's prominence in Zodiac.

they're up there with ween, to me. weird band that have no business being as awesome as they are. but for some reason i still don't like the flaming lips, even though i lump them in with this early nineties noise pop stuff.

not to derail the thread into a ween topic (although i doubt essines would mind), i agree that their genius lies in juxtaposition and then also in their complete mastery of various musical styles. my favorite album by them is actually quebec because they just completely embrace this crazy sort of space rock sound on transdermal celebration, right after this really mellow kind of hollow song about zoloft, etc.

but...yeah, butthole surfers.

i think my favorite album of theirs is locust abortion technician. although hairway to steven is pretty good too...

locust abortion technician is fucking outstanding on a skinful of acid.

My favorite thing about the Buttholes in the 90s...

yeah what really gets me with ween is their complete ability to make music. they are extremely talented and good at what they do. so much that you can't tell with some of their songs if they are serious in their lyrics or just taking the piss. the juxtaposition of weird, mock rock to talented instrumentation and skillfully penned songs always gets me. I know it's not for everyone but ween seems more accessable than BHS and you have to recognize their prowess in music making.

But yeah, locust abortion technician is one of my favorites, as is hairway and most importantly Independant Worm Saloon.

King Coffey has been in my presence 30's of times....

when I was a grocery cashier, he would come through my line a lot....

So much love on here for Independant Worm Saloon? That's like the Surfers equivalent to Metallicker's "Black Album"...
