How do you make this old school rave sound?

Been wondering what synth was used to make this sound for ages. Check this video at 15 seconds

Heard it on loads of tracks, not sure where it comes from. Probably the rushiest old school noise I can think of alongside the Juno hoover.

sounds like a sample to me not a synth in the same way old hardcore used a lot of sampled piano chords and orchestra hits

but it could be a sampled synthesizer but its definitely being transposed a single not sampled digitally

but seriously though...i'm pretty sure it's just a synthy orchestra stab. just about every vst ever made has some variation of the sound in it's preset banks.

aside from what everyone else said it sounds like there is some layering at different octaves or with different samples... definitely try some choir or yelling sounds along with other stabs

Yeah, def sounds like a pitched up and down sample to me. Was curious about it's origins though, doesn't seem that well documented as other well known sounds from that era. Cheers for suggestions, I'm off to pitch Oscar's hit all over over the place!
