-Lyrics were all written in Manson's bedroom wall for the course of 6 months

-Manson first described the album as "Someone cuting your chest open and taking a shit on your ribcage"

-The album's font was inspired by the film High and low by Akira Kurosawa

-Manson inflicted 158 new scars on himself in one day, during the recording of the album

-first track "Devour" was inspired on a bizarre night that ended at the hospital
