kcinsu
So, I took this class last semester, that focused on Indian and electronic music. Basically we learned about some ragas, the various classical instruments, and current Indian pop music. These are 3 assignments I did. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Bansuri/Sarod Remix ^for this one, we were given improve sessions of a Bansuri (bamboo flute) and a Sarod (stringed instrument) and we had to go an cut out phrased we liked, and then produce a track around them. This is an uplifting downtempo track. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Om Remix ^for this one, we were given the vocal line, and had to write a track around it. Its an Indian chant used for meditation. This one is an orchestral/electronic hybrid Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Dum Maro Dum ^this one is a classic Bollywood song (about smoking weed) that we had to remix into a dance track. Just posting these for fun. It was a fun class enjoy Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/4579-3-indian-remixes/ Share on other sites

Braintree
So did you have to use a specific app for the class, or was it free to anything? I'm taking MIDI Systems right now, which is really fucking annoying, because I know how to use midi, but know nothing about Digital Performer. "So you want to test out of midi systems, huh? You know how to use midi? Well, nevermind that, learn how to use this frivolous sequencer, and we'll let you out." I've been trying to find some arabic chanting tracks for sampling, but have not come up with anything. The remixes are high quality-sounding. Good production and sample cutting. Sorry for the rant. In advanced MIDI, you'll learn logic, and in 381 (hard disk recording) you'll use protools. thanks for checking the tracks out :) Cyanescens: I'd love to get some reccomendations for good indian flute music! I'm taking David Doms. He's a good guy, but it's so retarded how they make the curriculum so gear-specific. I'm willing to wager any entering student with a vast amount of knowledge about MIDI wouldn't be able to test out because of that single reason. I haven't used Logic yet, but I hear it's the exact same thing as Cubase, and I've used that for a few things. kcinsu
Doms is a nice guy. But yeah, it is annoying how those classes are really "learn this program" There'll be several more "this is idiotic" experiences waiting for you, just gotta grit your teeth and bare with it. I did find the Logic one much better though. It is similiar to cubase, but much much better. Its really the best sequencer (imo). It just takes a little while to get used to things, but once you do, I think youll love it.
