I completely sampled my 808. Have a present.

Hey,

Im selling my 808 so did a full sample set with different decays/tone/snap etc. I thought since i enjoy watmm so much, I would share them all out free.

The files are currently in .alc (ableton clip) format as I've spent 5 hours sampling and cant be bothered converting to .wavs right now. so if anybody would like to do it so everyone can enjoy it feel free.

The hits were recorded as hot as possible without clipping to give some oomph

recorded from 808 > RME Fireface 400 at 44.1/24 then all zipped into a neat little package.

Hey, quite a few things.

Each hit is 32kb saved in .alc for what is effectivly a 0.4 - 0.8 sec sample so thats actually pretty standard.

bearkinsonn. yes im aware there are alot of packs out there. but its always good to have more choice. plus im not sure how diverse their samples are but for example just for the kick ive got

Kick divided 4 folders in order of "tone" knob. 0% tone, 25, 50, 75 100 , within each folder htere is 6 - 20 samples of that tone in increasing decay.

a 44.1/24 bit wav file , 0.5 secs is around 32 kbs so these are full uncompressed quality.

the file for download is 1mb, but is a zip of a 5mb compressed folder. ( dont mistake data compression with audio )

anyways, take it or leave it. thought some people might like it

plus bearkinsonn you have to pay for those, so its hardly the same as someone giving you them for free is it?

well if you have "drum rack" in ableton you can use them (for free). idk if drum rack is free though

good job anyways :)

A full-time music producer friend of mine has sold and bought about five TR808s in his life so far. He keep selling them and then regretting it and buying another one. My advice is not to sell it, you'll only regret it and then buy another one!

oh lawd, i know it will happen. i just need the money so I can buy one of Ken Macbeth's new dual oscillators for my euro-modular.

in a couple of months im sure im going to regret it... the problem is im moving into a small flat and im trying to scale down my gear so it can actually fit in.

there is still a certain something about a real 808 i.e. the analogue phase drifts and that natuaral punch when you get a few sounds on the go at once.

I thought they were still in the prototype phase, I hadn't seen them on sale anywhere. I'm sure they'll be great! Good luck with the 808 sale.

I'm going to obsessively compare each of your 808 samples to my own 808. My doctor says I have problems.

hey,

production of the units is starting very soon so im getting the money ready for the minute its available.

it would be great to hear how they compare. I once tried an 808 in Japan and the kick and snare really sounded noticably different.

Thanks a ton tompty! You are a very kind soul for doing this. I will put these to good use!

And I value this a lot more then your run of the commercial sample packs as this has its own character.

Your zip doesn't actually have the samples in it. The .alc is just some information file Ableton generates alongside the wav. So you need to upload the wavs also.
