best sampler vsti

Recommended Posts

that doesn't use a whole lot of cpu. isn't overly complicated. and hopefully, one that you can stretch the samples granularly, for good effect.

http://tx16wx.blogspot.com/ The new version is looking pretty fly, if it gets stable it would easily replace shortcircuit IMO

Not sure if elcallio is accepting new testers but there aren't that many active ones in the group so far and if you wanna see this thing rock solid it couldn't hurt to email him a beta inquiry.

TX16wx is amazing and free. Poise is probably the best drum sampler vst and obviously renoise is ace.

triachus

yelling AAAA really straings the voice, and the tiny h really represents the struggle and hardship a vocal chord must endure for yelling AAAA

I came in here to say that, I've tried pretty much everything. Battery has a lot of great features but I never use it because I like using Poise way more. Last time I checked was like a year and a half ago but it seemed like Poise is the only drum sampler that lets you throw layers of samples on a single pad and have them round robin, switch at random or layer togethor at once tight or loose soo easily.

Shortcircuit is the shit sampler with melodic instruments for keys etc.

Shortcircuit is also good and free.

Granite

You mean http://www.newsonicarts.com/index.php?page=granite&area=overview this one? Looks fun.

I would suggest Directwave...it does timestretch and it can even record (!) which is not so common in vst samplers.

Shortcircuit 1 is cool, but it has this slow attack envelope bug (since version 1.1.2 or smth) which can fuck with you drum hit transients (lowest attack envelope possible= 0.977ms.) And Shortcircuit 2 feels a bit unfinished.

are there VSTi samplers out there that have less noticeable artifacts when time stretching/pitch shifting than Kontakt has?

i'm still using the Reaktor patch 'resynth' to do a lot of my melodic sampling, and i havent found anything that sounds as good besides Kontakt (which im guessing is just using the reaktor bits inside of itself)

I think that samplers are definitely a neglected area of virtual instrument development. I just hate NI (I think I say that in every thread) and Kontakt is no exception. The UI just fucking blows big dicks. Why can't you just reverse a single samples?

Best VST sampler? Who needs the best one?

Short Circuit and SC2 are free.

thanks for the link man, didnt know this piece. looks interesting.

I like it. It serves my (admittedly-humble) ends. I heard SC2 is a beast.

Of course, if you want super hi-octane stuff you might wanna check out Maschine.

SC is very good. That said, if my music computer was working I would be all over TX16W. I haven't used it but it looks square up my alley.
