Days that just suck from the moment you get out of bed

I just had one of those days...

First of all, I took the day off from writing my exam project to do visuals at one of the biggest festivals in Denmark, which I knew will get me way behind schedule but it never hurts adding festivals to one's resume.

Then one of my laptops dies. It's 4 years old so it must be kind of worn out by now, but it still sucks because now I have to go out and buy a new one.

Just before I leave home I empty my mailbox. I've received a letter where it says I haven't paid my tv license fee.

As I'm on my way to the festival I stop by a gas station to get a cup of coffee. That has got to be the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. Tastes like burned paper.

Then I'm told by some dick, who has nothing to do with the band, that the last time I did visuals for a band it wasn't very... effectful. Well, gee thanks.

Then after 2 hours of driving around in the rain I finally arrive at the festival. Thanks to poor signposting I get there a lot later than planned.

Then it turns out that I can't connect my laptop to the big ass screen they've put up because it only works with a DVi output. That's bullshit. I've had my laptop connected to lots of big screens over the last couple of years.

I put some guys on the case because I'm not convinced that the AV guys know what they're talking about, but of course these guys forget all about it.

Since I can't do anything about the whole situation I decide to get a taxi to drive me to the nearest train station, but it turns out my SIM card has died so my phone can't do diddly. Great.

Then I walk for 30 minutes without managing to stop one single taxi.

As I'm on my way to the train station a group of girls are walking in my direction. One of them decides to kick a beer can that's lying on the ground. Of course she couldn't know that the beer can was full so I get beer all over me - and I fucking hate beer.

So I'm finally home again. I just wasted 9 precious hours I could have spent on writing my exam project.

your laptop has a vga out right? you can get a dvi to vga or vga to dvi for a few bucks at any computer place. the AV guys must have been retarded.

Seconding what theSun said, I do video for a living and can't imagine being in a situation where someone can't hook up a laptop because they only have vga out, shouldn't take more than 1 minute extra which would consist of me finding a vga>dvi plug for you and hooking that shit up.

It might have been an issue if the screen only had DVI-D, meaning it's digital only but that could have been solved with a scanconverter which should be available at a big festival.

I think so - or perhaps they were being a bunch of sneaky fucks. The guy who was in charge of things told me that I could him all the video files and then he would trigger them, but my brother in law told them 'no'. Apparently, this guy can't be trusted and my brother in law was certain that the only reason why he asked me to give him the video files was because he wanted to use them later on himself at other festivals.
