Capsaicin
I heard of The Third Policeman here on watmm, actually. It's one of my favorite books I've ever read. So Two Birds is just as good? oyster
It's really good, The Third Policeman is my favorite but you'll enjoy At Swim Two Birds if you liked TTP. I got the complete works of Flann O'Brien, really nice hardcover book with a built in bookmark even. Guest Etch
Yes Pod! I have been reading Flann O'Brien for years now. Other than what you have already read 'The Dalkey Archives' is well worth a read. Some fantastically IDM stories about destroying universal matter in under water caves in order to open portals to tak to historical figures. Amazing. Also 'The Poor Mouth' Is the most hillariously depressing story ever. Its about growing up in a run down Irish cottage int eh wild west of Ireland with a loads of animals (also in the house) in the pouring rain. His childhood toys are chicken shit and ash and one pig gets so big it cant get out the door and then it dies and smells. Also his teacher disciplines his students by hitting them over the head with an oar. I think one of his scool friends swims to school as well. So fucking funny. Guest Iain C
The Third Policeman is a fantastic novel. Gary's got my copy and has probably had it for close to a year, as far as I know he's never read it even though I've reminded him to as recently as the last week. The bastard. zazen
I tried reading The Third Policeman about 15 years ago, and although it was impressively unhinged, i didn't realise at the time that it was already 50 years old, and so perhaps didn't appreciate it as much as I should have. I gave up halfway through. I see it was featured on Lost in 2005 and subsequently sales hit the roof ... interesting.
