Herb Recordings

Recommended Posts

Herb is a new label based in UK who plan to be operating on a global scale within the next year. Our simple yet strict policy is to deliver the most cutting edge electronica to the good people who inhabit this planet. Over the next few months we will be adding some known and not so well known artists to our roster and shortly we will be posting some of their productions on the myspace page also so stay tuned!

Herb are currently accepting demos, so if you think your music is good enough to be released internationally please feel free to send one in, the contact details for demos will appear on our myspace page shortly but in the meantime, please send us a message and we'll get back to you.

Some things to consider when sending a demo : 1. Do you really believe in your music? because if you don't believe in it, then the chances are we won't either. 2. Please do not email tracks that have been attached to the email itself, though you can send direct download links. *please note that CDs or CDRs are preferable and even if we like what we hear on the download link, we will still request that you send in a CD or CDR. 3. Please include a bio with any demo submission. 4. Don't send rubbish. We will endeavour to reply to everyone who sends a demo in as we believe that if someone takes the time to send in their music, then the least they deserve is a reply. However, due to the number of demos we do receive, a reply can take anywhere from 2 weeks to two months, so be patient.

Primarily Herb Recordings will be catering to the ambient, underground electronica and electronic indie markets. However, if you feel we must hear your music and it's not strictly in any of these styles then we will consider it for release IF and only IF the music is great. We're looking for artists with a new sound, artists who want to take their chosen style to the next level...artists who want to forge their own path and not live off the backs of artists from the past. Basically we want to hear NEW MUSIC, something the people will respect for being diverse and cutting edge, so if this is YOU get in touch. Herb Recordings will be releasing their music both as digital download and on CD format so stay tuned! Thanks to everyone who's supported us so far and finally WELCOME TO HERB! ***PLEASE NOTE, our website is still under condstruction!

The Herb website is www.herbrecordings.com however our site is still under construction and as such we've opened a myspace page to deal with any enquiries in the meantime. Our myspace page is

www.myspace.com/herbrecordings so please feel free to get in touch.

Hi there, thanks for your help. I'm sorry if i've breached any rules regarding advertising, though i must admit i don't see this as advertising. For something to be considered an advert i'd expect there to be some goods available commercially in the body of the given advert. Seeing as i wasn't trying to sell something to anyone i never really considered it to be advertising. Secondly, i was told this site was primarily a community of artists or there was at least a good deal of artists on the site who produce professional sounding material and as such i was letting them know of our presence. When artists send demos into labels, you don't get labels replying saying "sorry, we don;t allow advertising" sending a demo to a label is advertising your music as a product to whichever label you send it in to.

I think there is a vast difference between promoting a new label and blatant advertising of a product. On top of that, i apologise for not introducing myself to the community first but from a personal point of view i think it would have looked a lot worse if i said hello my name is blah blah blah then in my next post let people know about the new label. As that would have looked as if i was only saying hello to the community and interacting because i wanted to post about the label. I simply came to post the info about the new label, not advertise any goods for sale and certainly not hoodwink people into thinking i was their new buddy.

Once again though, thanks for your help. I'm not that well acquainted with the intricacies of internet forum politics and etiquette. I'll be sure though to take your points into consideration before posting again.

thanks again

firstly it's herb recordings, secondly music is a subjective art form so opinions will always vary and finally, you should spend more time on your music and less time on trying to be witty if the your material on myspace is anything to go by.

good luck in your musical adventure

Hey man don't sweat it. The fact that you've posted again means that you're not one of those cheeky sorts that uses this place for free advertising.

i will make you milions!!

that would be great but really my only interest is putting out quality, underground recordings. If i was in it for the money then i wouldn't be releasing ambient music.

What would you release? You know what DOESN'T sell, but that doesnt make a successful businessman. Why do people want to go into business with someone who isnt a good businessman.

thanks for checking out my tunes! i thought you might have liked them if you're looking for ambient.

i'm just giving you shit; no hard feelings. i can see now that you're not just a one-time post weenie. we sometimes get people on here trying to promote themselves while they have no interest in participating in the community of the forum, and that's kinda whack, so it tends to engender some knee-jerk reactions such as mine. i do apologize though and best of luck w your label!

welcome to watmm Herb.

somehow, from the serious tone of your 3 posts thus far, I suspect your stay may be short and fruitless.

but as I say, welcome nonetheless.

I will be sure to pay a visit to your myspace page to check it out and say hello.

hi and thanks for the welcome. to be honest i've had a look round this forum, reading the threads etc and it looks like an excellent site so the chances are i will be visiting again. As someone who was new to the site i felt as if i was being attacked for no reason...i can understand the part about the advertsing to a degree from the user mcbpete and i have no gripes with that to be honest...it was just an oversight on my behalf about the posting rules and as i see it the user was only trying to maintain the integrity of the community by letting me know the rules. My reply to encephalas i think their name is was justified i feel though as they made a snide comment about us with no justification. If the comment was a response about the advertising or promotion then i'd have understood it to some degree also but it was a blatant slur. If someone strikes me then i'll strike them back and have no remorse for doing so.

i didn't expect to get it in the neck for posting the info about my label so it caught me off guard. i was planning on telling a few jokes, but no one will think they're funny now :wink2:

i'm sorry you've totally lost me...anyone who knows anything aobut underground ambient music knows that it's not exactly the most commercial style on the planet. There's very few millionaire ambient artists compared to other styles of music. My point was i wasn't in it for the money, not i don't want to be successful. I don't measure success by financial gain, i measure success by the quality of the output. Of course the label wants to make money for itself and for the artists, but people have to be realistic about the music they're producing. To use an example, successful albums from Planet Mu sell about 5 to 6 thousand copies, now you do your maths on that at £10 an album
