Guest meneedit
I never thought it would be so hard but recently i went looking for an old speech engine (the one used by Stephen Hawking) and i cannot find it anywhere. It seems to be impossible to find. If any of you know where I can download it (win platform) could you please tell me where? It would be much appreciated. thank you :smiling: Edited June 8, 2009 by meneedit Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46343-speech-engine/ Share on other sites
Bubba69
hawking supposedly uses a hardware speech box, the Dectalk DTC01. I'm not sure of any perfect software emulations but there may be one Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Bubba69's signature Hide all signatures https://intervallux.bandcamp.com/ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46343-speech-engine/#findComment-1059985 Share on other sites
goDel
the wike has some good info on that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech_synthesis the speech synthesis hawkins uses falls into the "formant synthesis" category if i remember well. there are lots of online demo's of text to speech systems in general. some will probably have some vintage option for choosing a hawkins like voice. Guest Drahken
Hawkings reminds me of ST Speech, which was an Atari ST program. You can find ST Speech pretty easy online, but you'll need a GEM emulator to run it. Bubba69
okay, I fucking love syng2 @ http://www.xoxos.net/, there, I said it. Just fucking set it up and have fun and make it talk gibberish to a sequenced melody, you need to route 2 midi tracks to it(one for pitch, one for the different shapes of the mouth, vowels, consenants, etc.). I just made a track with it and it is fucking insane. I also violently automated the formant shift parameter, which is highly recommended.
