Can I use a universal power supply for my sequencer?

Recommended Posts

I just received a sequencer (Kawai Q80) that requires a power supply with 10V and 1000mA (very rare, haven't found one yet on the internet). I did find some universal power supplies though, like this one: click

But it says in the description that it (maximally) runs with 2800mA (2.8A) when you set it to 10V. Can I use this power supply for my sequencer, or will it just blow up this way?

Thanks

I did find this one: http://gsmserver.com/shop/equipment/power_...wer_adaptor.php

but it's a cell phone charger as far as I know, and I doubt the plug will fit

also, i just googled "10V 1000ma adaptor" and found one straight away from Maplins. 1000mA set current and adjustable voltage between 3V and 15V - £13.99. sorted.

thanks!

didn't see that one

I already tried some other adaptors (12V with 500mA I think), hope I didn't blow it up, I was impatient....

I also already ordered one from ebay, but the delivery time is 14-28 days lol, so maybe I\ll order this one as well, gonna need UK to Euro converters if I do tho

putting incorrect currents and voltages through things is generally not a good idea - you may have already damaged it by using a 12V 500mA supply, but hopefully not...don't try any other random ones though.... is there not a Maplins near you? just go down there, tell the bloke what you need and buy the bastard.

yeah, I think Maplins UK only, but I can order from their webshop it seems, I'll give it a go

Hmm, I just read the description a bit more thoroughly and it says this:

"Please note: Prior to use, please be sure that it is an AC output supply that you require for your use as most consumer electronic devices use DC current for power."

not sure if that will work, anyone tested an AC adaptor on a DC device before, by chance?

I ordered this one , but I'm afraid the polarity's not right....

on the back of the sequencer the + and - are on the opposite sides

shit is well annoying going around town tomorrow to see if I can find anything

Alright, it still works! I've bought a decent adapter (30 euros) yesterday and it does the job. I'm glad it worked out, thanks again.

Now to read the manual which is about fucking 200 pages, wicked.....
