First Common did the horribly overreaching commercial effort Universal Mind Control, and now this. He is completely written off in my book forever! Im done with him. Whatever happened to the Common that gave us the hip hop classics Resurrection and "6th sense"?

That seems to be the cycle: start small and produce thoughtful music, slowly gather steam over the years, getting record deals for larger labels, 'til you make it to the pop charts, then cruise through the rest of your career doing commercials and having bit parts in movies.
