quality blank music cds?

Recommended Posts

Guest underscore

I'm not sure if there are CDs out there specifically tailored to being abused in CD players, but if there are, anyone have a good source for decent priced/good quality ones? I am looking to burn some CDs of stuff from this year for anyone that is interested, and I noticed that after a few rounds in my car the CDs I was using start to shit out.

On a similar note, anyone interested in a CD with 16 trax made by a random scrub this year, PM me your address and I'll get one mailed out whenever I find decent blank CDs.

i'd recommend checking out this forum: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f33/ they've got some extensive discusson on different media and manufacturers

i remember the maker of ImgBurn recommending taiyo yuden discs (actual name branding varies) for DVDs (don't know about cdrs). seems like that forum agrees http://club.cdfreaks.com/f33/taiyo-yuden-faq-178622/

i don't know basically  but if you've got a few hours to burn, read through that forum and report back

Thanks again for the link, Adjective.

Regarding the question about "Audio" C-DR; there are some stand-alone recorders that require these "Audio" or "Music" C-DR. This is some kind of RIAA related bullshit. The Audio/Music CD-R cost more than regular because they have some kind of built in fee that goes to the RIAA; there is no other difference between the two. In other words, definitely stay away from "Audio" CD-R when you're just using the CD-R for audio...yeah.

As Adjective stated, Taiyo Yuden seems to be the best bet for quality. The only thing you have to make sure of when buying them is that they're made in Japan; if they are made anywhere else, it is a fake Taiyo Yuden piece of shit. Also, if they are made in Japan but under a different brand name, there is a good chance it is Taiyo Yuden. I guess they are the only company really manufactoring CDs there (I could be wrong.) These CDs appear to only be about 30cents a piece (probably cheaper at some sources, too lazy to look atm), which is definitely the kind of price I was looking for.
