Guest theSun
do black people absorb more sunrays and therefore get hotter in the sun faster than white people? i'm actually really curious. kaini
from a purely physics standpoint, yes - paler is more reflective, darker is more absorbtive* but from an evolutionary standpoint, black people probably have more evolved heat-dissipation methods than white people to compensate *not an actual word Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide kaini's signature Hide all signatures On 5/7/2013 at 11:06 PM, ambermonk said: I know IDM can be extreme On 6/3/2017 at 11:50 PM, ladalaika said: this sounds like an airplane landing on a minefield Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46895-hot-weather-and-africans/#findComment-1074555 Share on other sites
Siegecow
yeah ive always wondered about this black people statistiacally to complain about the heat more than other, lighted humans by as much as 22%!!!!!!!!!!!! Berk
yeah it's a bit weird because black people obviously can stand the sun much better, while darker colours absorb heat a lot more i've thought abouyt this before as well, it's actually quite interesting Edited June 27, 2009 by Berk Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Berk's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/46895-hot-weather-and-africans/#findComment-1074558 Share on other sites

Guest abusivegeorge
Black people do not FEEL the heat like we do, and their body's are evolutionarily adapted at dealing with heat and dissipating it better than white people are, because they come from hotter climates and are dark skinned, darker colours absorb more heat, but humans being living beings have adapted to deal with it. Not a heavy assumption-my black friend is here. I was going to say all of that anyway actually. Guest boo
you people probably think the colour of your t-shirt makes a difference edit: so white reflects more light, but does that mean it reflects more heat? just asking edit: heat edit 2: i mean, from what i can tell, fair skin is just more exposed because of the lack of pigment or something, ? do albinos burn easily? Guest theSun
um yeah i can tell if i'm in the sun if i'm wearing black clothes or white clothes, do you? just because black peoples' skin is better at surviving in direct sunlight doesn't mean they are more adapted to heat, just sun rays. ie, they don't get sunburned so easily. i'm wondering if black people have an average surface (or internal) temperature higher than white people who receive the same amount of sunlight. i'm guessing yes, but i'm thinking it would be negligible.
