oyster
The 3:46 minute one. This song is so genius, holy coal. I want BoC to make more tracks like this, with the really dynamic and quirky melody. Please appreciate. oyster
No? Ha it'd be funny if this was a fake BoC track. It is untitled as I have it, just track 03 Old Tunes Volume 1. I thought all of volume one was untitled? Capsaicin
Is there a difference between a few old tunes and just old tunes? What I downloaded had two sides, 15 trax each. oyster
Yes, Michael. There is A Few Old Tunes, Old Tunes Volume 1, and Old Tunes Volume 2. I want to call you a noob, but if this turns out to be a fake track, that would blow up in my face. So I'll just call you penis breath. Penis breath. stephen1966
Old Tunes Volume 1 Side 2 Track 16. Not only the best track of the Old Tunes trilogy but up there with anything they've released officially. Dale
I often find myself listening to most of their old tunes now, one of my favourite being this: Old Tunes VOL. 1 - Side 2 - Track 11 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/47142-old-tunes-volume-1-track-three/#findComment-1080356 Share on other sites
mcbpete
My two favourites on OT Vol.1 are the minimal beats of Side A Track 6, the dark psychedelic guitarage of Side A Track 7 and the Scarface-esque Side A Track 14. lumpenprol
I've always felt the various old tunes contain some of BoC's "purest" work, in the sense of being unaffected. Musical brilliance in its embryonic form, before all the seriousness and dark journeys and polish. Whatever the band may think, I'm really glad they leaked. lumpenprol
as long as we're on vol 1, in addition to side a track 6 that mcbpete mentioned, I love the drums and soaring but slightly abrasive synth used on track 8. In face vol 1 has really unique synth sounds on it, is it their oft talked about "secret weapon"? Whatever it is, I wish they used it more these days...it has such a majestic sound. Side a track 13 has the same synth sound on it and is also awesome. Funny to think that all of these could have been released as proper albums but weren't. They are certainly up to snuff in my opinion, they just need a bit of thinning out, more careful organization and the sort of "connective tissue" tracks BoC added in Maxima and MHTRTC... Also funny that the guitars are arguably used more succesfully than on TCH. shout out to side b track 9, playful and complex, like it better than the one Pod mentioned... If all these "Old Tunes" were remastered into albums, and allowing some to become extended a little in terms of length (most are about 2-3 minutes long), then these would certainly be.. in my opinion, the best BOC tracks written. Dragon
[OT1 B12] and [OT1 A3] are amazing. I'd love to hear some orchestrated versions of them, maybe one day I could do it by myself... Also, is it just me, or is [OT1 A4] one of the greatest pieces of music ever? Dale
Just out of curiosity, can anyone work out the drum machines that have been used on the old tunes compilations? They all seem to be very consistent, as if most of the track percussions spawned from one type of gear in the studio.. could be wrong though. They sound basic, but work really well with the overlapping melodies and textures going on in the tracks.
