Can anyone recommend a good cheap, small keyboard midi-controller ? My 61-key Radium has died and I decided I don't need all those keys anyway

I was looking at this one, M-Audio Oxygen 8 V2 which looks pretty good, £60 odd:

A cheaper one, Carillon Control 25, works out about £36

Any advise? thanks

That carillon looks like a good deal! I've tried a couple midi keyboards, and for the most part theres little to tell them apart. If you're using it to control software synths then you might check to see how well certain/brands/makes are supported. Semiweighted keys are always nice, and check reviews to make sure its not junk that will break after a month.

I've got this:

and ive also owned an m-audio axiom 49, which was quite nice, but too big for me. The e-mu does fine, lots of knobs if i need em.

edit: also if you're using software make sure the keyboard has good drivers for your OS

Thanks, just realized the Carillon won't work on the latest OS X.

  • 2 weeks later...

M-Audio Axiom 25 is pretty popular with me and my circle of friends (yeah we're really original).
