juno d - differet parts simultanously

wow, you bought a juno d. i'm sorry.

to play two parts at once, you need to assign a different midi receive channel to each part and then send the midi on those channels from your computer.

if the juno d has a built in sequencer and you're trying to do it with that than you are fucked.

It has a built in sequencer, as far as I can tell I do not need to interface with a computer at all to play simultanous parts.

Says somewhere about 16 timber, dunno if that is related but there's a way to have hit a note and have say a lead sound and and bass sound play together.

ok so i read the manual, and i see no evidence that it has a sequencer, sorry. it just has some built in accompaniments or something.

i think once you have assigned patches to the parts, you need to play those parts from an external controller or sequencer. page 57 show you the midi revieve channels for the parts

if you look on page 45, you'll see that you can program a patch with a split point, so up to a certain key its one sound, then after that another sound (2 sounds max by the looks)

if you are wanting to make tunes with this thing, you are going to have to buy a harware sequencer or midi it up to your computer

i think i heard it drop from here

yes, your mc303 can definitely control the extra parts on your juno d.

it might be as simple as unplugging the audio out on the mc303 and connecting the mc303's midi out to the juno's midi in - i.e. the mc303 might already be transmitting all the parts it is playing over midi. if thats not happening, it'll be buried somewhere near the back of the manual...

Cool, I'll need to look further into this midi recieve/assigning patches/parts to the performance.

Right now I have midi in and out of both, I can control the tempo of the juno with the 303, and I can play parts from the 303 with the juno, or have a mix of one part juno- one part 303, or just juno by adjusting volumes on both devices.

In the manual for the 303 it talks about using midi to

control ms1

selecting tones from external midi device

sychronizing extrnal sequencer to 303

synch 303 to extrnal sequencer

bulk dump

using 303 as sound module

Not sure which, if any apply.

The 303 controls as far as I know 8 parts

R 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

How then does it handle up to 16 pieces of info, or is MIDI different altogether?

plug midi out of 303 into midi in of juno. set 303 to transmit on all midi channels. set juno to receive on all midi channels. press play on 303. enjoy.

How do you do that on the 303, I think I can do it for the juno

Midi cables are in position

I used to have an MC303, but can't remember how to set the midi channels any more...should be pretty simple...will be in the manual somewhere...just look for "setting the midi channel" or "midi channels" or something like that...will be very easy.

nothing about setting midi channel.

frustrating, been trying to get to grips with this for ages, re-reading the manuals, nightmare.
