Guest Aces
So, I am in the market to be upgrading my soundcard. I have been using an maudio 24/96 and while it's good for what I have been doing it's not what I need anymore. I have had a fostex desk with adat which I have been using for live shows and it works very well. When I have recorded shows however it's been a massive pain in the arse to get the material off of the desk and syncing it up for mixdown. I think it's time for some integration. I guess the reason I haven't looked into it is because until recently I have been pretty much full on broke. However this isn't so much the case at the moment and I did just get a new PC (Waiting for it to be delivered presently) So whay not upgrade to something that will fulfil my needs a little more? I have been doing research into possible solutions. The thing has most caught my eye is the emu 1616m. It seems to do everything I would require it to do. Have I answered my own question? No... I am wondering if any of you have ever used any of these and have any positive or negative things you would like to say that might help me out at all? Any ideas for alternatives for different makes that offer similar options are also welcome and if anyone has any experience working with adat has any information that would also be most helpful. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/47246-audio-interfaces/ Share on other sites
Guest welcome to the machine
so, you want an interface that has an adat input, is that right? or something that can replace the fostex? in a mobile setup? if the former the focusrite saffire pro 26io is pretty good, adat in and 8 ok mic pres, good for the price... (this is the only one of its type that I have used). haven't tried the emu but essentially if a card has adat in then it should fit your needs. adat is a digital interface and as such all the important processes (namely the preamps and the analogue to digital conversion) has already been done and the card you choose shouldn't make a big difference to the quality you get. as long as it is a good interface that works well with the software, and even if it doesn't you can always send it back till you get a working one. Guest Aces
Yeah just something with an adat input. The fostex while certainly not the best desk works very well for as does what I need it to. I will check out that interface too. Thanks for the help. : ) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/47246-audio-interfaces/#findComment-1082870 Share on other sites
