The other day I saw a spider trying to build a web across the fucking street. I've never seen a creature with such crazed ambition. You should have seen him go, dropping a thread down one one side of the pavement and making his way over to the other side... over and over again. I watched him for quite a while, both admiring his audacity and saddened by his inevitable demise. The very fact that no traces remain of the web is an unfortunate testament to his failure. There are probably spider babies out there whose father never brought home the food - all because of this spider's unrealized dream.
