A litle late but the title track of this album is awesome, and the rest of the album is great hayden, seems slightly better produced or that he had more money, but it's great. Just heard it, highly reccomended for folk/wilco/hayden fans.

lookin at you robert moses.

I got this a couple weeks ago and wasn't feeling it on the first listen. It's probably time I gave it another chance. I was a big fan of his last couple... actually all of his prior work come to think of it. This one struck me as really bland first time through, but maybe I was just in the wrong head space.

it does seem different. i'm sure you recognize that most of his earlier works, and works in general, were very raw and stripped down, not much other than him and a guitar, occasionally some bass and drums... this one has a few tunes like that but they all sound better produced. i quite enjoy about 3 tracks after 3 listens and can't complain. the title track, i think, is really great.

but for me it takes me a few listens to get into any of his releases. still one of my favorite canadian artists.

gotta plug bad as they seem cause it's a fucking wicked tune.

I still haven't listened to this, though I am a big fan of Hayden. Everything I Long For, IMO, is still his best record by far. That said, I generally have liked most everything he has done, and I try to see him live whenever he is in town. I'll definitely be checking this one soon. thx for the reminder.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

I agree. Bad As They Seem is absolutely amazing. Great album.

This one is very good. typical Hayden, but as i said it sounds a bit more produced and junks. Have only given it about 3 listens, but each one is great.

shit i wrote the same thing 3 times in so many different amounts of words.

I liked it a lot more on my second listen. The production is nice, but lacks the character that appeals to me in most of his other work (interesting room sounds, simple but semi-creative overdubs, etc.). It's a very clean Hayden, which I guess weirds me out a little, heheh. I thought In Field and Town did a good job of integrating that polished sound with the rawness of his earlier work, many great songs on that album too. That one's probably my favorite. This one seems like an album that I'll enjoy more on successive listens.

there, that's what i was trying to say.

i completely agre that his lack of raw hayden-ness is kinda disappointing, but it's also cool to hear something like this, something new.
