GULP!

I just went to Darla records to check out Robin Guthries new album and on the front page I saw this interesting new release with Darla!

I WAS JUST BLOOOOooooooooooown AWAAAY by the previews!!! I heard about this long ago on myspace on their myspace and they sounded promising..but this is just something else!!!

IMAGINE Boards Of Canada mixed with Cocteau Twins on LSD!!! This is by far the most interesting and psychedelic band I heard in AGES! Im gonna buy this album tomorrow for sure!!!

I PROMISE you check them out you wont be dissapointed!!!

Ulrich Schnauss also recommened them on the darla site and he said the album IS FANTASTIC!

Here's the link!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://darla.com/

No worries, they sound nothing like Enya.

This is the best band I heard in ages and to my ears this could easily be the next big thing!

I must say that this is a fantastic album! The title track is beyond epic.

I would give this album a 9/10

Easily one of the best albums of the year so far.

Yeah I don't know...I actually love Manual and a bunch of Guthrie's stuff but this I just can't get into. Everything is just incredibly slicked up production wise...it's like when there's that much bright high end on reverbs something in my head explodes.

And I wish I hadn't read Manual's comment about "boy band vocals" there because that's exactly what they sound like to me.

Milieu Music

Listening-techno, bedroom ambient and organic electronic music for the discerning consumer.

Recycled Plastics : Bedroom music for electric adults!

Psøma Psi Phi : 000BPM sleep fictions for intimate applications.

No offense Archrival, but the production is one of the biggest turnoffs for me on this. Normally I'd give any album I was at least curious about a full chance of a listen, but if I can't even get through the samples without cringing...I think I'll keep away from it to avoid any further negative forum posts.

Glad you like it though!

Thanks for checking out the samples tho! I think this album has a very unique and special sound so I can easily see that its not for everyone, but I can easily imagine a lot of people from this forum atleast liking it, its all about taste :D.

Off topic...I checked out the track Rural Dialogues on your myspace...what beauty, love the track! On what album is it?

I actually introduced Ulrich to the music of Ecovillage. My little claim to fame.

I haven't got around to listening to the album yet, but I will do soon.

Aha thats cool. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. The album is very wierd but in a good way, its a real grower, just gets better with each listen. Can anyone recommend similar artists?

Not yet (been listening to the superb 'Eskimo Snow' by Why?), but I'll do so very soon.

Oh have to check out that one! Still listening to Boards Of Canadas remix.

"I doubt you’ll hear another record like Phoenix Asteroid this year" Here's another crazy review (cokemachineglow)

Ok you are sleeping on this one! "Listening to the chrome-like guitar tones on “Here and Now” is like listening to all of the best bits of M83’s recent output rolled into one single track, perfect for that mixtape you’ve been itching to make all summer. If Jonas Munk’s constant repetitions of 80s-inflected shoegazer pop has left you inured to the “genre”, if there is such a genre, than “Here and Now” might just restore your faith in such a thing."

Have you heard it yet Higgins?

Yes, I finally got around to listening.

Very enjoyable, for the most part. I'd agree that the album is a bit over-produced at times, but it's not so bad as to spoil enjoyment of it.

Not sure if you're familiar with the guy, but you might be interested in the music of Keith Canisius, and there's a kind of similar vibe (though more Cocteau Twins): Click Me!
