FL Studio's MIDI Out and SH-201

i'm trying to use the midi out in fl studio with my sh-201. the program recognizes that i've connected the 201 (via usb) and i set it as midi out, but nothing is happening. i checked the little "master sync" box and i've messed with the midi plugin. i've set it to the right channel, although i'm not sure about the bank, patch, and port numbers. i'm pretty new with this whole grand concept of midi, so i've probably messed something very obvious up. help would be appreciated.

Check on what channel your sh201 is receiving, rtfm, add a midi out thing in FL set it to the same channel and send it some notes.

I just saw said you have it set to the right channel, is there some sort of software utility for the sh to configure its midi settings?

Where you set whether it send or receives on the usb or maybe it's in some sort of stand alone mode?
