listen to the way he rocks the rhythm in this to match the storytelling. people don't realise HOW BIG A FUCKING DEAL this was in ireland. basically, we sucked, and then we were sorta awesome at football. i watched our match in euro 88 against italy, and when packie bonner saved THAT penalty near the end, someone ripped the telly out of the fixture and ran around the room hugging and kissing it. i don't think i'll ever see something like that again.

He reminds me of my childhood too - I'm not Irish, but my dad has always listened to a lot of folk music, so I grew up to the sounds of Christy Moore, as well as British folk musicians like Ewan McColl, Martin Carthy, Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, The Watersons etc
